New speed camera going up down lee-on-solent sea front!
as your coming from gosport, it's about a few hundred yards before the slip way at deadalus (SP), just after the turning on the right where the road almost doubles back!!!
as of today there is just the post, but expect it to be in operation soon.

Cheers mate, and of course it is because 'they' reckon it is a dangerous road that needs to be made safer..........or is it because it's a relativly straight road with NO schools or Hospitals near by
Obviously not enough money in the 'road safety coffers'.

Don't understand the point of this camera on such a long wide open road.
I know some people do drive far too fast on that road (considering all the coffin dodgers around) but if they're hell-bent on speeding they'll just slow down for the camera then carry on as they were.
I really think they should just put a sign up which flashes "30mph limit" or similar to those cars going too fast, this would have much more effect. But of course it doesn't generate any revenue...

Quote from the evening news to-night from the 'safety camera partnership'
"we take great pains to use cameras only where there is a history of SPEEDING and ACCIDENTS and this is clearly paying off"
So they admit it's got nothing to do with Fatal accidents then....
and out of the 18 cameras in Hampshire they have stated that each camera has so far 'raked' in £50,000.
Good money earner then!!
They are being used to replace the police force in the fight of motoring offences...what next?? unmanned automated patrol cars as in 'robocop'
It appears to be policing on the cheap...no wages or pensions to pay as the cost is one off unless Mr Gatso gets there
Looks like there could be alot of officers out of a job in the future.
steve. (Now getting a Road Angel to add to the protection department)
