Well after lots of recommendation from fellow Scoobynetters we bought a Panasonic 515 ES I think. Great phone but was £99 from argos, normally £129 I think.
SMS, Blue backlit screen, answerphone, speakerphone, polyphonic ringtones etc. Looks like a mobile phone.
When looking around the Panasonics do seem a class above the rest in terms of build quality.
Would suggest one but a little bit too far over your £40 budget.
