Why does my phone kep "chirping"?
#1
At home we have three extensions. Then upstairs one has always given a little chirp every time anyone lifted, or replaced either of the downstairs receivers.
I recently replaced one of the downstairs ones with a BT "Decor 310", phone, and all was as normal.
After about 3 days, I got round to installing the PP3 battery in the new phone.:
Since then, the upstairs phone has been driving me nuts: it gives two tiny chirps, spaced about 8 seconds apart, approximately every 35 minutes, all day, and all NIGHT
What on earth is causing this, anyone know?
And how can I stop it, short of trashing one, or the other, phone?
Thanks be to anyone who can help with this. Modern technology? Grrrrrrr

We have a phone that chirps, but it's one that doesn't allow tone dialling.
It chirps when the Tivo hangs up about 1am in the morning. There is also a phone in the study, but that doesn't chirp, but it does allow tone dailling.
I hope that makes sense!

Some "interesting" replies here guys. I should have known not to post serious stuff before Christmas:
I don't think it's the REN thingy, as the new one is the same as the one it replced, and the internet is broadband.
I think I'll try e-mailing NtL, and BT, for help. Muahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahaha!

Your phone might just be over sensitive (aw bless).... phones know to ring when they detect a higher ringing voltage. If one of your phones is a bit sensitive then a spike caused by devices hanging up etc could be enough to trigger a chirp. The new phone might have added a bit of capacitance into the system causing small spikes in the voltage.
I would try swopping the handsets around to eliminate any fault in the extension. If the problem follows the handset then either replace it or turn the ringer off!
