I was reading about the Target LRC 100 laser diffuser, apparently you can test it by fireing a remote control at it (infa red).
from UK Speedtraps
If this is true, I thought I would test my Snooper S5. Not a chirp. Please tell me, is my Snooper knackered or is my logic wrong.

Warning: Do not look directly into laser aperture when the transponder is firing, yes I know its hard when you are driving but if you are testing it with a TV remote control its easy to look at the head.

I have had three different LRC100 units. The first one responded when I tested it with a TV remote control. The second and third (updated designs) did not, despite it still being printed in the instructions that a remote control should trigger it.
I contacted the supplier who could not explain this, other than to suggest that I get the unit tested against a laser gun. This I did, and although it had not responded to a TV remote, the LRC100 was in fact working fine.
So don't necessarily expect a test using a remote control to work!!

The laser detector on my Valentine 1 alerts to the IR from my Kenwood head unit remote, it needs to be pointed directly at the V1 but will work from a good few feet away
