Alcohol - no longer a hit
#1
Hi all,
I dont know why, but I find myself (like last night at our staff Crimbo party) feeling less and less affected by alcohol. Im almost at the point where it doesnt seem worth drinking any more because I know I wont feel any different - exept maybe the next morning where Ill feel rough for driking more.
I dont drink more than about once a week, and admitedly its normally a fair bit.........so I really dont think Ive built up a massive tolerance............but its a shame because I used to enjoy the fact that I lost some inhibitions / increased my enjoyment of a night out etc.
Anyone else ever found this?

Too much of anything and you become used to it - sex, booze, drugs, whatever. Try going without for a while and see what happens. I think thats a strategy I'll adopt for a wee while

You could also try some Cocaine or Heroin, apparantly they seem to do the trick. Can get quite expensive though, unless you do a bit of Granny bashing in your spare time.
Would n't worry about the consequences of that though as long as you're not speeding away from the scene. You'll probably get a conditional discarge and some more free drugs, methadone is popular. Of course if you are under 18 you may well get a nice free holiday.

This happens to me every once in a while. Try changing your usual beverage to something different. That normally does the trick!
e.g. if you only drink beer, then go for the spirits!

It's immunity. How many times a week do you drink? Edit... Ooops, re-read and only once a week. Blimey!
I found this all the time at Uni. Start of term I'd be merry on five or six pints.
Ten or twelve weeks of drinking three to seven nights a week, the only thing 12 or more pints would to do is make me spend all night running to the bog and back

Ok Im 27
Last night, was like quite a few others Ive had, Im guessing I had approx 6 pints and 5 doubles, after the fifth I just though sod it, they were having next to no effect. That amount used to be just right for me to get up and dance at a cheesy disco, but it wasnt happening..........maybe Im just growing old and becoming too standoffish?

It always works.
Oh, and if you want a better hit, an empty stomach helps too.

Get yourself a hipflask like me, and take swigs contantly throughout the day. It's a nice cos although you're never actually drunk, you're never actually sober either.
I've just run out actually so just popping down the offie...

1) If you are tired I find alchohol does jack all for me
2) Do some exercise...e.g. go swimming before you go out. You'll find it dehydrates you a little and BOY does the booze kick in a bit better. Will make your hangover worse though, as your muscles will take up more toxins.
3) Mix your drinks a bit
4) Have a break from the booze. You'll soon see your tolerance change!!!
5) Try and let go a bit: you can actually MAKE youself stay sober by being in the wrong mood. If anything is playing on your mind, or you are feeling very insecure, you may not be relaxing enough for the alchohol to have much effect until you suddenly are so drunk you fall over / asleep.
Good Luck.

Getting 40+ thousand miles out of a set of brake pads on a Scoob turbo means the only thing you can outdrive is a milk float.

I think when you get to that stage as described in the first post, it means that your liver is beginning to suffer some kind of damage. It wont stop you from hoovering the alcohol of course, probably for years to come. Eventually of course Cirrhosis will set in and it is a short step from that to cancer. make the most of it while you still can!
