I'm sure you all know about this but here's a report from www.dotdotcomma.com
Cobbler-Schumacher. Geddit?
Cobbler to race jet
Mike Cobbler has announced that he will race a fighter jet in his Ferrarsi.
The race against a Eurofighter, to take place at the Grossetto air base in Tuscany on 11th December, was suggested by Italian defence minister Antonio Martino and Cobbler, flushed with the success of his sixth world title, was simply too vain to turn it down.
With his latest success encouraging Cobbler to ever higher levels of conceit and self-belief, sources close to the two-faced Teuton claim that they actually had to dissuade him from competing against the jet on foot.
The plane will be piloted by trained astronaut Maurizio Chelli in races over distances of 500, 1,000 and 1,500 metres. Cobbler will race alongside the fighter for as long as the Ferrarsi can keep up and will then swerve violently across the runway and force the plane onto the grass.
The Ferrarsi team's lawyers are already primed to protest the legality of the aircraft's tyres should Cobbler lose the contest.

Did anyone else think this was a totally pointless race??
It would have been much fairer if he had raced a harrier would it not? Then they could have had a propper race with a standing start and corners.
For those that do care, here's a link to the story:

I've seen an mpeg of an Indy car racing a jet down a straight already, and the car pi$$es on it. The camera man filming from above has trouble keeping them both in the same frame.

Hey that dotdotcomma site seems really witty. So funny them calling him Cobbler and the Ferrarsi thing is great too - really amusing

Thats absolutely unbelievable!!!!!
Despite the £1000 billion squillion they've spent on the Eurofighter project, I didn't think any of the bloody things had got far enough to prove its pointlessness in a showdown with a car.
Amazing.
