Anyone got some constructive advice on entertaining my daughter?
My wife has been ill since Tuesday and I have been looking after her and my daughter.. looking like much of the same today and the weekend.
My daughter is bored of the same walls and we have done painting, drawing, a couple of videos (but we try and avoid too much TV), plus playing with toys and the usual bricks, lego, reading books and going through the alpherbet with her, and counting.. but we need something to DO! Perhaps visiting the swings and slides later but cannot leave my wife for too long.
I openly admit that a Mummy job is not that easy!

Have a game of footy in the garden, indoor golf, wrestling. I am being serious BTW. I do these things with my nephew, i realise you said daughter, but living in a non-sex descriminating country these are acceptable.

If you haven't got Play-Do, get some. Kids love it. Dirt cheap and you don't need to be watching them like a hawk as it's easy to tidy up.
Early Learning Centre do complete sets of cutters, shape-formers etc etc.
If that don't work, try Doom

Thanks, had forgotten we had some playdo..
She won't watch a video more than once and we only allow her to watch one a day maximum..
We are far from modern parents.. I like the ikea idea though..
Will try the football outside when it stops raining..
I have done some wrestling with her but if I am not careful I end up winding her up..
Thanks

Try baking buns or a cake for Mum, my daughter loves it, makes a hell of the mess in the kitchen but keeps her entertained she even sits and watches the cake rise in the oven to make sure it dosent get burnt! The best bit is when she presents the fruits of her labours she is so proud of the mis-shapen mound of cake and insists you taste it can be quite interesting!

JR55 - exactly what I was going to say!! ...even better though is to use funny coloured food dyes so you end up with multi coloured cakes - very amusing

Agree with the cake thing. Mine loves that too.
Unfortunately my 3 year old daughter has an attention span of about 5 minutes so it's really hard work keeping her entertained and especially now the weather is naff. We're not fond of the TV either so find that the soft play at the local David Lloyd is cool. Keeps her happy for ages.

There's plenty of pubs that have indoor and outdoor play areas for kids now - get yourselves in a taxi, let her run riot for a few hours. It gets her out of the house and playing with other kids. You can also sink a few pints without getting a bollocking from her indoors !

I knew it was spelt wrong when I typed it but was rushing my spelling is terrible.. lucky she is only learning the letters at the moment..
Wrapping presents is excellent idea as I have some left to do..
Other suggestions are also good.. and I agree with the attension span.. she is very clever and needs lots of input.. not a complaint just hard work.. still rather be doing this than working though.

Hello
Mummy work is quite hard, and I am hard pressed to entertain my daughter, but things that work are:
Swimming Pool
Video
Playing outside and running around like a crazy
Swings / Slides
Making Cakes / Cookies
ToyStore
McDonalds (The chicken premium child meal is okay)
Playing with Dolls and dressing up
Steve.

Quad bike.......I spend countless hours since my daughter 3 now 4 has been playing on this.
Although only 50 hp best investment I ever made, has taught her how to brake, powerslide the rear, lift 2 wheels of the ground, do jumps.
All I have to do is wrap up warm, get enjoyment from her whizzing around the country side & ver occasionally I hop on with her & take her for a mega blast, where I'm well beyond my limits of quad biking
The other half gets a rest for usually 3-4 hours, I get some fresh air, daughter gets fresh air & is learning road skills & it keeps her quite for the next few hours as its quite strenous on her little muscles.......
Sound all round

Sorry I haven't been back for a while been out buying a Quad bike I wish..
Been raining all day but we went out in the Scoob and got some shopping..
We have been trying to encourage her to not shout so for ever saying "Shhhhhh". This was the first time she had been in the car since the Forge dumpvalve was on and working with the fmic..
and she kept thinking it was telling her to be quiet..
LOL

pmsl! lol, never knew the scoob could be used as a child pacifier lol. Though saying that, the hearse did have the ability to drown out the sound of screaming kids
