Can this be right?

A friend of mine is having fireworks thrown into his garden, stones thrown at their house etc everynight.
So I offered them the use of my video camera, to film the people which we know are doing this and apparently the police said it is illegal for them to film them and cannot be used as proof!

But tread carefully could make matters worse. better to find out why they are doing it.
Kidnap one and burn his ****/bollocks off with a blow torch...will have told you why before you start..but you got to look like you mean business.

I beleive that while CCTV evidence is acceptable, you must not film any public land. The police no doubt get around this by changing local bye laws to allow them to film specific areas.

I think there is some law about what you are allowed to film, obviously like a lot of laws the Police are allowed to ignore it in the line of duty or are exempt. proberly have to put warning signs up etc.
I did see on a Mark Thomas program on CH4 where he said you have the right to copies of any CCTV footage (not from Police MI5 Etc) of yourself but you have to pay a fee like £10 per copy) now many CCTV systems use hard drives to store these images so how you are protected by the Data protection laws i don't know? Must be a lawyer on SN.

Thats actually a good point, its not me which is having the problem, so if they don't want the use of my camcorder its up to them. I was just wondering if anybody could confirm it, as I myself couldn't belive that they wouldn't be allowed to film it.

And he obviously was getting rid of some moles - you can see tha he was doing the gardening when he was disturbed by them - look, he only had time to take his gardening glove off his trigger hand
