Question

I have been offered a Headunit for the very good price of £200 inc P&P from someone on eBay! It didn't sell so they are willing to sell me it out of eBay (Through PayPal so that I can do a Chargeback on my Credit Card if it goes wrong in the 1st 6 months!)

What they can't confirm is the Warrenty!

The Headunit is the Brand New Kenwood KDCPSW9524 CD/MP3/WMA, 50W x 4 Max. It sells for between £330 - £500 online from a shop.

I really like it and someone has brought one from this person recently, they said that theirs was fine and they were very happy with it!

I just wondered if anyone can help me make the hard decision of parting with my £200 or not?

Please, any comments will be apprieciated.

Ta, Bex

Basingstoke eh? Which part? the posh part?

Only you can decide whether the item is worth a risk - cos thats what it is ..... where is the seller? If they are in, say Popley, then I would keep my cash in my pocket!!

Ask them to put it as a buy it now on ebay and pay a little more.

You get the benefit of an extra layer of protection.

Sorry but what extra protection do I get if they do it on "Buy it Now!"? I will be paying by Credit Card so if it went wrong or I was unhappy with it in the first 6 months then I can get my Credit Card company to issue me a Chargeback!

They are advertised as being near Redditch! Where in god's name is that?

So pslewis, where you from then?

I thought that if Paypal transmit the money on your request you don't have the usual consumer protection of a credit card?

I would only buy stuff on Ebay through Ebay with someone with excellent feedback ratings. Having spend £2000 on Ebay in a fairly short time following this method nothing has gone wrong.

PayPal use whatever card you choose to have on your account! If I pay with my Credit Card, I could always go back to the issuing card company up to 6 months after and ask for my money back. I might be turned down but I know the system.

God I cant decide!

Question

Well they have positive feedback for three 'Kenwood KDCPSW9524' which they have sold in the past two months, no neutrals or negative's and another due for which they have just sold(01-Dec).

Even so as someones already said I would get them to offer it you via "Buy it Now" just to be on the safe side.

Scuse me for being nosey, and tell me to go away if you like, but how did they come to offer it you, as I cant see you in the bid history?

Just curious
p66

ps..If it goes pear shaped, let us now as Redditch is only 10 mins away and me and the lads can go round for you...

You get absolutely no help or protection from Ebay if you don't buy through them!

pitstop66, I E-Mailed them about it to ask a few questions before the auction finished and then when it didnt seel, she said I had first refusal!

I think Im gonna take it and do it though PayPal, then if it stops working, I will get my Credit Card company to get my money back!

I think its worth the risk, I had an old Kenwood and never had any problems with it at all

You are not covered by ebay in any way if you deal outside ebay...ask them to put it on a buy it now action and specify you as the only bidder.

They wont have to pay ebay again if the RELIST it they only get charged once for relisting.

we have dealt with over 800 transactions on ebay my husband and myselfs account and honestly i wouldnt touch any deal outside ebay with a barge pole.

If you go onto the ebay home page and click on help , a pop up box will come up ....press a to z and somewhere there you will find out about how ebay has fraud protection etc

Ahh thought as much

Paypal wouldnt want to now and would refer you to your card company to do a chargeback anyway as the 'Seller Protection Policy' wouldnt be valid as its a UK-UK transaction, and also its not officially listed on eBay.

Anyhow safe eBaying

I am going to definately try the Buy it Now option as you say, they wont have to pay to list it as its been advertised already!

Also go with Credit Card through PayPal.

Can you guys look at the Stereo Description & tell me if you see anything wrong with it?

"CD / MP3 / WMA Receiver, 50W x 4max, FP-MASK, 3 RCA preouts. Top of the range flagship Kenwood CD receiver, FP-MASK two stage motorized front panel, Front panel removable, MASK-KEY security system, Additional code security protection, 3D / Three colour FL fine pitch full dot display, Display customisation, Red or green switchable key illumination, Display auto-dimmer, MP3 and WMA compatible. ID-3 tag display, CD-R / CD-RW compatible, Option to add CD changer and accept auxiliary input, CD Text display from head unit and capable CD changer, CD disc name preset for discs in changer, RDS (radio data system) & EON (extended other networks) tuner, Radio text display, 4 x 50 Watts max power, System QEX sound control, 'System E's +' control for additional subwoofer, BMS amplifier control, Switchable dual-zone capability, Internal amplifier switch off, Three gold plated RCA preouts (5.0 volt) for connecting external amplifier, Zero-bit muting, 24 hour clock display, Infra-red remote control included, Option to receive new DAB broadcasts with add on tuner box, Two way telephone mute Automatic turn off (selectable delay of 20, 40 or 60 minutes)"

Bit long winded but I hope its all there.

God I really want this but don't wanna get scammed!

11 So far, 1 pending and no Negs or Neutrals! Not all from Stereos but they sold two others of the same and they were happy!
