Hi there peeps,

Just a little advice required on this one.

Just under a month ago I got caught by the boys in blue for not wearing a seatbelt, fair cop, was polite and accepted the ticket no probs.

Went to pay said ticket a few days after and found I had lost the bit of paper (fpn) Rang them (the payments office) and explained and said could I advance pay ? No was the answer. SoI gave the reg number and all that was outstanding was a parking ticket from 2001.

She said if the copper was sloppy with paperwork it may take a while, so I rang day in day out. Eventually they said that if it came up they would wipe if off as a jesture of good will.

This morning I recieve a "notice of registration of unpaid fixed penalty as a fine".

Basically I rang them and they now refuse to cancel it !!! Although they have put the ticket on hold for 3 weeks to get it sorted out.

However, the copper that "did me" got the wrong reg number. Does that mean I still have to pay it ? and if I do, why should I pay the extra 15quid for his mistake ?

Cheers

Stu

Question

I'm not ABSOLUTELY certain of this, but I thought that if any part of the ticket was wrong, it was invalid?

You tried doing the right thing but they screwed it up, so no more Mr Nice Guy.

I recomend you write to them and tell them that the ticket does not refer to you as the license number is incorrect and hence you contest it.
