SPECS across Thelwall Viaduct. Yes.
Changing lanes; do you feel lucky?
Front numberplate only.
AFAIK there is no evidence of anyone having been nicked by 'temporary' SPECS cameras at roadworks (Notts ringroad is different). Prepares to be proved wrong. 50mph through this 40 limit is reportedly OK, but thresholds could be changed at a moments notice so historical info. is no guide to future performance etc. etc.
Way to 'beat' SPECS is to buy a motorbike, or do 30 for 3/4 of the section and then accelerate to 90 past the last camera
Doing the roadworks at 40 instead of 70mph adds about 3 minutes to your journey time, just set off 3 minutes earlier, surely not that unbearable?

fwiw I tend to cruise through the Specs on Thelwell around 45/50 and I've not had anything nasty through the post so far...
I still see numpties tearing along then slapping on for the cameras though, it helps pass the time while I cruise along nice and slow mind

My personal favourite is as you come off the viaduct(s) is watching everyone put their foot down only to realise there's another camera in the group (I'm usually sat in 2nd gear waiting to floor it )

lol, yeah, you can see the regulars all holding back for that last few hundred metres...while the rest all zoom off only to panic again.
Sad that these little things amuse us so much really

so its front plate only?
my concern is that they are in more areas other than just on the viaduct, i dont speed through roadworks anyway, but do tend to mind my own business and possibly exceed 70mph on the more empty sections
my snooper has never picked up specs and i assume they dont use radar/laser anyway?
Thanks all, does anyone else have any info into if they have put more specs anywhere else on the M6?

Chaps,
Are these permanent or temporary ie are they there because of roadworks or are now a permanent fixture?
With regards to how you beat them; a) buy a GPS detector system to give you early warning and b) just slow down and do the average speed until you are out the system, then it's up to your conscience and driving ability as to what you do next

As Notorious rev mentioned, there is often a NASCAR style rolling road start as you go under the last camera at Thelwall!
Trouble is, I'm often so bored of sitting at 45mph on the inside lane that I floor it and then end up doing 1** for a couple of miles, before settling down again to a non-stupid speed.
I reckon they'll keep the SPECS there when the roadworks finish, or just move them up the motorway a bit.

Hmmm. Last few times I've been across the Thelwall viaduct I've noticed that the scameras (NOT a spelling mistake!!) *seem* to be pointing at the outside lane ... Not that I test this out just in case ... but I do tend to move into the inside lane (if not there already of course ...).
As for bikes - SPECS doesn't pick them up 'cos of no front number plate ..
