My boss was smashed up the rear on saturday by an X Reg Frontera which had bull bars - they ended up piercing the boot on his Saab 9-5

I thought bull bars had been made illegal a few years ago - does anyone know if my thoughts are correct, or did I dream it?

I think the law is that Vehicle manufacturers can't fit Bull bars.

But you can fit what you like after you've bought the car (although may have changed again since last time I looked).

Also cars already fitted with them are allowed to retain them (and that definetly includes most older fronteras)

I love bull bars.

Car manufacturers spend millions designing crumple zones so that pedestrians hit by moving vehicles stand a better and better chance of survival.

Then along comes Mr. and Mrs. Daft **** who buy their nice new 4x4 and bolt bull bars to it almost guaranteeing serious injury to anyone they happen to hit.

Of course they need the bull bars for the supermarket trips and the school run

Sorry - just one of my pet hates!!!

tiggers.

You are missing the point - the people with bull bars have them cos they can't parallel park, allows them to bounce off other cars without damanging their beloved sheep transporter!

I think it was the insurance companies that made a fuss about them as the 4x4s were being used for ramraiding

Thumbs down

People that have bullbars should have their insurance premiums doubled IMO. They are a menace to all other road users and pedestrians alike.
