Recording from a DVD to a CD

Please can anybody tell if I can record the sound track off a dvd on to a cd. If so how?
Springsteen has just released a DVD
with no accompanying CD. I want the music, not too bothered about the piccies though.

My mate has a hifi CD recorder (as opposed to a computer one) and he just feeds the digital out (which is audio only) straight from the DVD player to the recorder. If you have a computer there are many ways to rip the audio. I use WireTap on a Mac.
