3am and me and the g/f are woken by loud thumping noises. Security light out back is on. I get up, check the cars (they're ok), find something suitable to welcome unwanted guests and venture down stairs. I pull back the curtains on the back window only to find some *********** with his head through the top light. "**** off" says I. At the sight of me (fairly big chap) and what I was carrying, him and his mate scarper. Meanwhile the g/f calls 5-0.

Fair play to the boys in blue, they were at my gaff in under 5 mins wielding telescopic metal truncheons*. No sign of the b4stards!

So now comes the hassle of replacing the broken window (they knocked a hole through double glazing ), SOCO and insurance claims

My gaff is the 3rd (attempted)burgulary on our road in the last few weeks. The feds said that they'd had a very busy night already! What is this fecking country coming to? Where do you draw the line at securing your property at the expense of being able to get out safely in an emergency?

And finally... one of the PCs had some refreshing views on home defense, not I might add, the views of his employer.

Guess who's not going to get anymore sleep tonight? Adrenaline has its drawbacks.

I see cars full of pikey types going around parts of N.london. driving around the houses having a look every day. I believe domestic robberies will be getiing worse and worse. In many ways its easy for them.

Sorry to hear about the break in.

IMO the best form of home defence is a rather large dog or 2.

It would have been worth hitting his head while it was through the window!
