I'm in the process of dealing with a "legitimate" Nigerian Businessman (is there such a thing?). He is after 500 Hard Discs for distribution to local schools to help the poor children with their education. I have given him a special discount and I'm just awaiting his cheque before i despatch the goods. I am quite looking forward to receiving the cheque so that I can frame it and gaze up dreaming of how stupid some people are.

I'm also dealing with a Nigerian business man. He tried to buy my car for 3 grand I sussed it was a scam told him the car was not forsale and now I have a chq for 5and half grand off him. He has asked me to buy a hard drive with the money and send it to the US and I can keep a grand and send the balance back

What would happen if I just cashed the chq and if it cleared just keep the money ??

Grovesy,
Word of warning, even though your bank may have cleared the cheque it can take up to 8 weeks for it to clear properly, even if it appears cleared into your account and the bank can still take the money back off you. make sure you speak to your bank before releasing any goods.

Cool

I'm not going to send him any money I'm just going to pocket the dosh. I was thinking of sticking it in the bank an leaving it there for a year or so and see what happens.

I'm 90%sure it will just bounce

Surely there is already? It's called Lotto in UK.

There is one born every minute. Good on the Africans for their enterprising use of the desparate in the UK. Can't fault their business plan if they get such a good response.....

No they re-branded it "Lotto", it still suckers in the same groups of unfortunates and morons as before though. "This week we're gonna win, I can feel it in my bones", PMSL.

Agreed. People genuinely think they have a good chance of winning the jackpot on Lotto.......if they gave me £1/week and I gave them £10 every Xmas, they'd probably think they were in the money.

What is it - 1 in 52 chance of winning a tenner, something like 1 in 9million of getting the jackpot?

Sounds like a bargain to me
