I'm gonna get flamed for this, but c'mon! Does it not annoy you?

I WILL get flamed for me not being part of the "community spirit", but does get a bit wearing on here......
People come on here asking simple questions that could easily (and probably more quickly) have answers found by Google. Now, if someone is VERY new to the internet, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt, but if they've posted 1000+ posts to Scoobynet, I'd reckon they're pretty familiar with the internet.
Add to this those that come on asking the same questions (and even admit it!) that have been asked MANY times before, yet can't be bothered to search Scoobynet or go back a few days to check.
Is it in the "community spirit" to post something just cos you're too lazy to do a bit of finger work and find it for yourself BEFORE asking? I know that if some of my colleagues came to me at work and asked me obvious stuff all the time, they wouldn't work here much longer as they'd show no initiative.
Sorry - just minor pet hate of mine

I agree with you - although when searching back for the 'definitive answer' to a query can be very hard. Everyone has an opinion/idea and sometimes its difficult to find the right info amongst it all and decipher what you really need - and not really knowing about it makes it double hard.
I always though a 'How to' forum would be pretty helpful for all the regular questions. One where you cant post on. It'd be a big listing, but could be a really good source of 'definitive information' and then save the SIAL posts.
I aint got my flame suit

I would disagree Google is "difficult".
My first stab would be something like "sky remote tv code" - all keywords the original poster has used in his post.
Funnily enough, the first link returned on Google has the info.
There, not hard is it!

Agree a bit, but you can get much better answers on here, say for a product opinion as people have real life experiences of stuff.
Searching Google drags up endless amounts of crap before you finally find anything of use.

I agree - asking on here for "opinions" is fair game as Google can't give you that level of knowledge.
Asking on here for black/white information is what I'm getting at - like Sky codes for remote controls.

So you're telling us that if you were sat round a table with your mates in a busy bar and wondered if they served Fosters or Stella you would go up to the bar to ask rather than asking your mates first ?

I agree with you imlach. Some people appear to be just plain lazy.
And there is a difference between helping yourself and seeking the knowlegde of others to help.
The somewhat poor search facility on SN could alleviate some duplicate postings, no end....! Same goes for the FAQ page, thats, "coming soon" sometime in the 23rd century, perhaps...

Give people a bit of help, and all you get back is a tirade of personal abuse.
...and I'm the one worried about "community spirit"
Sorry, not a virgin, nor spotty. Sorry to break your sad stereotypes. Happily married thanks.
Plus at least I can spell

imlach- Totally agree but had you done a search, you'd have found I've already posted about this!!
Irony, don't you just love it.
Grovesy- It would have been simpler to just explain about your cookie situation (as I think imlach may have overlooked that point),instead of being "keyboard tough".
His remark was general and not aimed at you and a very valid one too, in my opinion.
Oh, and is it ok to run my turbo on 95 ron?

Hehe....no, I didn't check for a post of this nature - DOH!
As for cookies, if he can't have cookies, then he wouldn't be able to look at the link someone has provided then presumably? So why ask the question from work?
