How unlucky is this????

I was in the early stages of changing my car reg no. I have to send off my documents along with a photcopy of my tax disk. So, I remove the tax disk to photocopy it, and it was off the car for only twenty minutes. This is where sods law takes over. When I got back to the car I had a fixed penalty notice for failing to display a current tax disk. Should I just pay it, or should I try and plead my case?

LOL, another example of how profiteering is now the number one priority for the police. Can't wait till they float the force as a PLC, I'm definitely having some shares in 'em !!
I would definitely contest it, you should get it overturned without too much trouble, given the circumstances.

If I was taken to Court by them for that, I would appear with all the evidence that you have, all the letters etc photocopied, plead not guilty and severely embarrass them for their stupidity. I think you would have to show that you had explained the situation to them first however.

It beats me how anybody could possibly feel the need to ask the question, it really does!!!

Well as I see it, I did technically break the law by not displaying the tax disk (for 20 minutes). I am guilty of this offence, however there are mitigating circumstances.
I'm not going to pay the fine so they can arrest me (if they can catch me) so that I can have my say in court.
Thanks for all your replies folks
