Im getting something shipped from america. Cost's $300 just to get it to heathrow.
Then they say I need to get it from heathrow! Trouble is its 7" long and weigh's 20kg.
How much tax would i be looking at?
How could i get it shipped 200miles up north without me having to go and get it?

With out knowing the exact way this was sent i cant help you 100%, but if this item has been sent as air cargo make sure the clearance and delivery company is arranged BEFORE it leaves the US.
If it has been sent as frieght the airline will probably pass it on to a clearance company automatically, that company then is supposed to contact you but with my experiance they dont really try very hard. They normally either send you a fax on a sunday or send the notifcation by 2nd class post, you are then charged storage for every day after the first 2 free days!
For a small box 50x40x30 you are looking at between £20 and £40 PER DAY!
There are loads of other charges to pay not just duty and freight, but none of this may apply if it has been sent with a postal company.
