For 85mph on a quiet M way - I'd say 5 years & a 10 year driving ban
Chris
JFI - Most coppers turn a blind eye to 80mph (unless there's nobody else around to "do" ) - 85 ish + and its "lets have him".
Edited to add - Cameras don't turn blind eye's - they "DO" everybody

wtf!!!
there were at least 6 speed traps. 1st one was a police van on bridge with tripods setup pointing down on each lane, and a police car about 600mtrs down the road.
Then it seemed every onther major bridge had a police landrover or astra on with laser guns.
hopefully i slowed down for the 1st, was having a "tussel" with a GTO and EVO6. must have been 500mts away. i tried having a look at the tripods, they seemed to be just black boxes (the kind you see on those illuminating "slow down" signs)
anyone else see?
ps was it you in a classic white wagon turbo? i was in green classic turbo

Simon, didnt you hear the news today, there is no crime in your area at the moment so all the police resources can be channeled into fleecing motorists
I really wish this was the case, its disgusting the way our taxes pay for these ******* wasters when we NEED real police to keep us safe

i think by your description and you seeing police cars lurking further down the road these camaras are likely to be automatic number plate reconision camaras , cheak your reg number against PNC (police national computor) and DVLA computor cheaking for untaxed cars, stolen cars , no insurance , and any outstanding warrants listed against registered driver etc

ANPR camera computer system thingy: Alert, car with reg X123ABC is untaxed and has no record of insurance or MOT.
Police: Let me know the address of the suspect
ANPR camera computer system thingy: Oh dear, there is no address or registered keeper associated with that reg. They must have bought as cash, or be using false plates, or any one of a number of dodgey scams.
Police: Never mind, there is a Scooby doing 71mph - we'll have 'im!!!

laser camaras do discrimnate . the camaras are not capable of running constantly , they are only operated when the operator(police or civillian) thinks a car is going to fast .
the police have run the auto reconision camara a few times in my town in the last month or so , and have taken quite a few untaxed/insures drivers off the road , surely this is good for us law abiding paying every tax going drivers. if we support the police in doing some real good maybe they wount have as much spare time to catch us doing 85mph on the motorway, they be filling in around 50 forms for each untaxed car

Tell me about it! Are those the ones near Ikea, if they are I think they prey on the customers flooring it as they try to escape from Ikea.
Nearly had me a couple of times doing 125mph plus, right down 65!

Hmm, I saw a load of tripods and white vans on the M56 going towards Queensferry, although they looked like video cameras, one for each lane in both directions. Are you sure it wasn't a hi tec traffic survey? I gave 'em the finger today, just to make sure
