i still don't entirely get it. say i want to buy something and am prepared to pay £50. what difference does it make if i go in with my £50 right at the beginning; either no-one else wants it and i will get it for the minimum, or other people want it and i either get it for £50 or less or else loose it. The only advantage i can see to last minute bidding is that if it is at £50 i might nip in there and get it for £55 with no time left for other bidders to come in with higher bids.
thanks anyway

I have a Mini Cooper Watch with all the bits and pieces it came with.
It was made in 1997 and licensed by the Rover group.
Apparently 2000 of these watches were made.
The watch, certificate and guarantee are all inside a nylon zip up presentation wallet with a metal plaque on the outside displaying the Mini logo.
This is all inside a cardboard box, with the words "Mini Cooper, The car of the century timepiece collection. Limited Edition" on the front.

As no one has emailed, I thought it would be fairer to do it by ebay. Everyone will know where they stand, without people thinking I'm trying to rip them off!!
Details here
At the end of the day, you may get it much cheaper than you were willing to pay for it!

At the end of the day, the watch owes me nothing, but if it gets what I consider a sensible price on ebay, then cool (and it means my fiancee gets a nicer Christmas present!)
There is no reserve on the ebay auction, so in theory it could sell for £30. I'd be dissapointed if it did, but that's the luck of the draw!
On a serious note, I honest do not know how much this watch was new or how much it's worth now! It was a present given to me 5 years ago, but I only came across it again a few days ago. I'm not a huge Mini fan, so hopefully it will make a fantastic present for someone who it!

Telboy, I was worried someone would think that I would play someone off another. I'm happy to be open about it, but without seeing all my emails, giving out all names and bids, there was no real fair way of doing it.
If you said £50 to me, I came back and said there was a bid for £51 and you missed out, you would be gutted I'm sure, and you would probably say that you would have up'd your bid if you knew that, so the only fair way I can see is to put it on ebay.
Everyone can see the current price, how many bids there were, how many views, etc, etc. It's then down to you to bid as much as you want.
I hope this makes sense
Andy
