As my mother would say "they just got on with things in those days" which is true to a point. These days we'd have a public enquiry then a cover up. We'd have stress counseling etc.Then we'd have to blame someone for what happened.

Must have been a great advantage not to have counselling. It was a horrifying story though. Fancy no-one bothering to warn people further down the road in the path of the storm.
