I already have sky digital and I'm thinking about getting the Sky+ box.

Can I go and get one from Curry's and just swap them over or is installation required (ie new dish?)

ps - old digiboxes are going on ebay for about £30-40.

No, you need a Quad LNB (bit that goes on dish) to allow you to receive 2 channels at once......ie, rewire from dish to box.

If you can do this yourself, you can get it from Currys etc.....

I've read around here (but not checked) that the high street deals are more expensive than going via Sky themselves. I did and it took about 20 minutes for the guy to install.

£199 for box + £1 installation. Included Quad LNB. No extra subscription as I have the movies package.

You can get 4 channels with a Quad LNB, but you'd have to take out 2 other subs at £10/month each.......

Hello

Has anyone had an installer from Sky install something on the roof? I am worried if I get Sky+ that they will send a muppet.

When I moved to my new house, I got someone from Sky to come and put up a dish and he wasn't interested. He wanted to mount it on the wall and drill a hole through the wall! Even though the developer had left a Sky cable in the eaves to attach to a dish. Muppets. I paid a "proper" shop and they were great....

Steve.

I got a proper shop to do it (cost more - £50), but at least I got a quality install.......

Put it on chimney breast - Sky wouldn't do that.
