if i buy a personal plate for my car can i sell the original one that came with the car ?

if so, how do i go about it once the personal plate is on

does that mean DVLA can sell it on or does it get held by them until such time i want it back?

they told me (when I got my plate) that the old reg number, goes back in the pool, and may or may not get used

should I sell my plate, they will try and issue the original plate back to the car, but this may not be the case, and I will get a similar plate back (ie same prefix)

You can sell it unless your V5 states its not transferable
