I had been working for the same company for the last 13 years, but was made redundant and decided to take a break for the last 6 months. I need to prepare a good CV that will capture all the major projects I've worked on that were / are important, but am struggling with what to include and what I should leave out. I feel if I do it without advise, it will be so boring anyone reading it will fall asleep. And in fairness I don't know where to start!!

Any advise would be appreciated. I don't mind paying for some help here

Thanks in advance, Phill

right what i find works on a good CV is a summary section...

Mine has:

Length of time working xx years
-- in IT yy years
-- in <certain industry> zz years

etc

And a Relevant systems used section:

eg
Windows 98,2000, xp
Office
Mainframe apps
Unix apps

If you want to see my CV drop me an email to marc@car-torque.net and i will forward on and could help you out.

Yep agree with goona, thats what most rec. agencies do with people Cvs anyway, other tips err let me see, put your work history recent first, dont put your hobbies down Ive sat next to bosses who have laughed and joked (and binned!) CVs based on peoples hobbies, someone put down philatelist (sp?) as I seem to rememeber which didnt do him any favours!

If you could send me your CV that would be great, as it will give me something to look at and base mine on.

Thanks Phill
