Looked at buying side by side smeg fridge / freezer. Too pricey for the size we wanted. If I recall bout 3k.
Ended up buying whirlpool for 1.8k (inc 5yr warranty)

Try Samsung for a side by side. I have a SRS2029-CSS one.
Get it from the cheapest place available. No-one carries stock, they all come off the same boat and get delivered by the same van - irrespective of who you buy it from.

We looked at Smeg cookers, the quality is not as good as you would expect for the price, very poor quality fittings, and after-sales is not good, the John Lewis in Wycombe were waiting over 6 months for a new handle for their display oven! Doesn't exactly fill with confidence!
With regard American sized fridges, BEWARE they are HUGE, so work out whether the doors are big enough to get it into the kitchen!
Not that I'd order one without doign something so obvious!
