I am f***in' furious at the moment..
Friday night two oiks decide to knife my neighbour's soft top and break into his car... in addition to this they decide it would a great idea to graffiti the house on the corner's wall + my neighbour from across the road's car!!
Some of the children in the road have indicated who it is as the same youths have apparently graffiti'd the kid's playground.
This further backed up by them spraying their nicknames on the car and wall!
The police are over worked as usual and general not interested in what in the big scheme of things (to them) is a very minor crime.
I've rung the housing association concerned to complain about the tenants in question this morning - as this effects all of us in our street.
What really annoys me is I now have to think about additional security, and where does it stop? They probably think they've go away with it - so whats next? What was a nice area could well be very unpleasant in the near future!
Has anyone dealt with anything similar and got any suggestions?
And can anyone recommend a CCTV company / set-up for home use?
Cheers, Alex

Its a real shame because most of the people that have been helped/housed by the housing association look after the houses and area - its the minority that think its their right etc..
The only other option we're faced with is moving I suppose, but we've only been there 5 months and spent a small fortune on the house.
I've worked hard for what I've got, and I'll be damn'd if I'm going to sit back and watch this happen again.

true story:
I tried this once for a gang that I knew were causing trouble around my brothers place so I went to the playground they hung out with 10 big ******* heavies. we went up to the group and said, hey do you know of any little ******* around this area doing this and that....? cos me and my mates are going to **** them over bad style when we find them as (in your case) his car and house were done over the other day?
for me this worked as they didn't come back to the particular area.

Alex, sorry to hear about the little scum buckets. If the police and housing association cannot or will not do anything, then it's down to you and your neighbours to do something, which, will no doubt be against the law, and sod's law says you would end up getting done for whatever, and the scum would get off.
I do know how upsetting all this is and how much stress it can cause, have been in a sort of similar situation, and yes, I did really feel like getting a few adhesive mates round to sort out the persons involved, but it would have been a bit obvious who 'sorted' the problem, and would probably have made things worse. But there was a somewhat happy ending.
Guardian Angels anyone?

Markus,
I seem to remember some of your saga.. Thanks for the kind words.
Don't worry, us white collar workers don't normally get our hands dirty.
Cheers guys, Alex

Alex,
sorry to hear about this.
Today's latest publicity stunt from home sec David Blunkett is to focus on anti social behaviour just like this.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/3188022.stm
Suggest you go back to the police and remind them of this and see if they can come up with some other ideas .....

Luke..LOL
Tim, the group we approched were around 7 or 8 in numbers and about 13 years old. I took 10 mates with me (really big ***** )and made sure we weren't going to get kicked in. anyway I wasn't after any violence otherwise I would have done something else. just wanted to warn them as the police in this occassion were not of any help. like I said it worked for me.

DrEvil,
My Mrs works for a housing association and they have a similer problem on one of their estates.
Some things you could do which are being done in her area are to form a tennents association, all try and look out for each other. And talk to the police about getting ASBOS on them, they will tell you how.
Once a ASBO has been broken, the penalties are severe.
There are other very good ( and legal ) measures you can take, but not wishing to spoil a sting that is about to happen I cant really talk about it here.
Quite often the housing association and the police are doing things but they are kept behind the scenes.

Thanks all.
I've got a letter (well email) back from my council and an appointment with the Police (TBC) to discuss this further.
The main issue I have is that I've worked damn hard to afford a what is a fairly basic house (2 up 2 down), and these individuals have no respect for that - they just class us as 'rich'!
Hmpf... thanks for all the advice, I'll let you know how it goes.
