My wife and I are looking to do exactly the same. What were the Canaries like over Christmas (already been to Lanazarote, Fuerteventura and Tenerife so know what the islands themselves are like)?
Did you rate Cyprus? Of course, any other suggestions people have will be greatly received!

Cyprus was nice, but not very hot when we went. It went up to about 23-24 some days, it was funny seeing the locals wearing coats and we were in shorts and t shirts Nice place, with loads to do and much more picturesque than the Canaries. The locals were great and the food good, but it worked out more expensive than other places we've been to. It cost us about £300 each for 2 weeks, inc transfers, etc ...
Done Tenerefe, Lanzagrote and Gran Canaria. These were ok, but not that nice to the eye with all that rock about, but then again there volcanic islands. Found the food good, prices very reasonable (apart from euro conversion) timeshare people you just wanted to throttle along with some of the African street sellers Was thinking of Fuertventura this year, but pretty much open on other places ....

Went to Egypt earlier this year and it wasn't for us, done all the touristy things and went to the Pyrmaids, Musuems, etc and just got hassled by all the sellers (can be very pushy).

I agree, I wouldn't go near all the pyramids etc my idea of a holiday is NOT getting mobbed and robbed !
No, check out holidays to Sharm El Sheikh. If you've already been to Egypt this year, then fair enough. But I'd definetely go there for a bit of sun and snorkelling.
