Class. Nice people, lovely design and they were sailing close to the wind on the cutting edge. I have nothing but respect for them.
What a refreshing contrast to those incestuous no-mark muppets on last week's prog.
Grand Designs as it should be.

Yes, it appears he is still on here. In fact he still has a Scoob (which he is selling here) http://www2.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thre...hreadid=228688

I loved it first time round too, it's looks soooo much better now though, what with the garden n stuff
I thought the central kitchen was really cool, I can't think of a better way to knit the house together!
Also, 150 quid for a tree, **** me!!! I was thinking a couple of K at least, seems such a waste to let it go so cheap

Lovely house, Class build, the build embodied everything about the Series which makes it so watchable and was one of the most memorable for the last series.
Its a shame that an extension needed to be built to make the shortfall in kitchen space, but a scullery has always been part of larger house design. Still I'd swap it (but not the Mortgage) for my house which is in bits and looking very half done.

Thanks guys for your kind comments, I'm blushing........
Where the utility/scullery is located is not actually an extension, it is simply the fourth leg off the central octagon and the only part of the house built in masonry. Contrary to what was said in the programme, this was planned almost from the start, in the interests of practicality, as there is a bootroom (the architect calls them mud rooms, pretty much sums it up really) where the dogs and cats live and upstairs two very simple spare bedrooms and a bathroom.
The build actually progressed pretty well really and Talkback were actively seeking some jeopardy to make the film more interesting! Hence all the stuff about late frame delivery, fuel strike leading to late timber delivery and the overbudget bit too. Of course I knew from the start that whatever budget I gave the architect he was going to go 50% over it, that goes with the territory on a build like this. So I had already factored that in. I knew I'd be broke by the end of it (if you ever truly get to the end of it, I'm desperate fort a garage now.....) and sure enough......!!!
Thanks guys

Well done rupert, a beautiful house, one I'm sure any of us would be proud of.
And your probably the sanest of all the nutters they had on there too
