Finding the right contact - advice needed
#1
This must be bread and butter stuff for anyone on here involved in Sales/Marketing...
I have a major co in my sights - I know they use the technology I specialise in, I know they've been looking for people with my skills, but I don't have a contact name within the co. I want to offer my services direct so no point asking an agency for help. I reckon a call to the switchboard asking for "the IS department" or "the person responsible for buying X" will fall on stony ground.
What's the right way to get into an organisation like this without cheesing too many people off?? Any constructive ideas greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Gareth

this approach won't necessarily fall on stony ground. In my experience a good buyer is always keen to talk to alternative suppliers.. give it a go.. if it fails you can always ring again with another request, a busy switchboard won't remember you..
