I bought a mate one for a Birthday pressie - it was about £50 from Amazon. It plays everything from Kodak pic CDs, through multi-region titles and even MP3s.
So in actual fact it does more than the one I bought myself 2 years back, and cost 1/5 of the price! And it seems well made too, with a decent remote, sound etc.

I have an Alba DVD and video from Argos and had them for over a year now with continual use plus a 4 year old changing his mind every 5 minutes what he wants to watch
and never had any problems at all. Very easy to use except the video timer but then again I'm a female
I would recommend them to anyone plus play MP3's etc.

Get the one from ASDA for a cheap player,
just plug it in and it goes,
will play all movies
if somebody lends you a movie ( wink wink) it will play that
what more for £40 , plus if it goes belly up ASDA will take it back over 3 years (3yr warranty i think)
have got the guys in work 7 for their kids so far , not a problem
email me if you want

Just got a Ronin P80H and a Ronin P215 from Special Reserve. Both seem to work fine, and come with a code to make them region-free. I believe you can also get them from Watford Electronics.

I pushed the boat out and went for the Yamada 6100....... just coz it said it could cope with all the latest Divx formats, as well as playing DVD-R & RW.....
Other wise would have gone for the 5520..... @£39.99
Got my eye on a few of them for Xmas pressies..... one for the bedroom...bathroom....kitchen... cheap as chips!!!
.. and free delivery

Just got a Proline from Comet, 37 quid, plays everything so far and better picture than my PS2. seems remarkably well made for such a cheap item, really smooth and quiet eject. usually like they are made from egg boxes, all sorts of outputs on the back SPDIF and the like.
What is the advantage of the expensive ones ?
