i8gtmf - If the oul boy from the Shore Road (Gary Moore) has done a version of Emerald, I would dearly love to know on which album/CD to find it as I'll go out and buy it right away...he'll take the pants off Scott Gorham any day !
fatherpierre and j4cko - thanks guys! I know it's not the original, what I meant was "the original" in terms of the rock interpretation (spelling correction required - it's late at night )
Now, how about an nice rendition of "Belfast Child" by that nice mister Kerr and his wee band, Simple Minds? Can anyone tell me where I could lay me hands on the traditional lyrics to that one? Doesn't matter if we (Scoobynetters) can't, it'll remain a great song!
UMM...Sorry Red_Dog...didn't mean to hijack, just love me music and it's good to see others do too !

Grant you that Pete, grant you that...I was thinking more along the lines of rock-star-legs-wide-open-fingers-doing-a-mile-a-million-at-the-bottom-of-the-fretboard type of thing.
Albatross is good, but just a little laid back for me. Gong were also laid back for me, just no-one told me

STI-Frenchie Gary Moores version of Emerald is on either a limited version off his After the War album or the Version I have is off a limited edition cd single of After the War

I once thought Metallica were untalented, the usual screaming vocals - distort at 2000 decibels etc. But at last they have shown an ability to write a good song. Let's hope it's not the only decent composition they have.

I think Metallica's version is class - first heard it years ago but could never find the cd single anywhere.
Also, the stuff they did on the Mission Impossible 2 soundtrack is brilliant.
