Been past a local camera van a few times recently and the radar detector has failed to pick it up.

Anyone know what band they use for the radar ?

These do use radar. I had a good look round one of the vans last week Thesystem is basically a hand held laser strapped to the side of a video camera. The hand held unit is the same as the type that they used to zap you with from the road side. It is only activated when they squeeze the trigger though.

Could it have been a road tax van?
They're just video camera's with a number plate recognition system.

No, it was definitely a speed van, and it was parked in a good place close to a school so no complaints there. Had the speed signs up and i know that several people have been caught by it.
I stopped near it the other week trying to detect it's laser/radar and couldn't detect anything.

Wink

The laser beam is to narrow, beam hits the vertical surface of your motor i.e. index plate or front rear glass from over bridges.

If your detectors are not at these four points you wont detect it, anyway what’s the point, instant lock on and your video evidence history.

This is reviewed after the events and your nip is sent out.

Remember Jammers only work on detection, same four point detection as above is required.

Just in case you wondered the speed on the video is read as false characters so they know you jammed it all they have to do is look at the video and read your index

I wonder what perversion of the course of justice means?

Lewegie:

I have a Road Angel, did six passes and he got me every time, got the prints to prove it, no detection.

He took it out the van pointed it straight at the Road Angel and it detected it.

Took my road angel back to BlackSpot tested it with them, works every time.

You just have to aim the device at the detector not the index plate.
