.. you find yourself saying "Scooby in a lake" at a dinner party when someone starts the same conversation you've just had.
Then spent 5 minutes trying to explain SIAL, but gave up when I realised I sounded like a **** - some things don't translate well outside of their context do they?
Oh well ...
tiggers.

Rather than let the chaps at work think I'm some kind of nerd or dweebie net crawler with no mates (stop it....) I often quote interesting things I read on SN as "I was chatting to a few mates last night who were talking about [insert interesting thread theme here]..." and similarly tell my girlfriend or non work friends that "I was chatting to the chaps at work...".
Is this kind of attictive denial normal?

So Tiggers, you'll be saying "I was just telling this pseudo community of 30k people who I haven't met about telling another load of people about a Scooby in a Lake when this guy asks whether it's normal to make up a load of rhubarb about where I get all these interesting facts stories and jokes when...."
If you get through the sentance without the men in white coats turning up let us know!!

As explianed by Chris L (Moderator)
SIAL - Scooby In A Lake - referring to THAT picture of an Impreza that had fallen through the ice - hence SIAL. It was posted so many times, that it has become the term for any subject that is repeatedly posted.

Often when I have had questions answered on SN, I go triumphantly to the missus, other guy at work or whoever and tell them "See I was right. This answer is xxxx" and they say "well how do you know?" and then I get a bit lost for words and mumble something like... "somebody told me... in the pub i think it was..." The missus now accepts that SN is the source of all wisdom, but other people are harder to convince.

My girlfriend has finally come round to the thinking that ScoobyNet is an invaluable pool of knowledge and wisdom and has even asked . . . "Could you ask on ScoobyNet if . . ."
I think she needs help
