Whilst drivign to work on my usual route, my bell 550 goes ape (straight up to 5 bars & K band), knowing that there aint a gatso for miles I dont take much notice. A little further up the road I see a single plod. Now I cant see ant tripod, mini gatso, lazer, nothing in his hand, etc, but he looks to be gettin out a pad a writing something down.

Never got pulled over, or saw any more coppers further up the road.

Can I expect a NIP in the post.

BTW, I have no idea of my speed as I was half asleep. I had just braked quite hard as some **** pulled out on me, so hopefully it was less that 30!!!

Why have the radar detector if you think you know better than it???

If I were driving along a road that I *know* particularily well, and the radar detector went off, I'd be extremely suspicious, and certainly wouldn't ignore it.

Think how pi$$ed off you will be if, in 14 days a NIP lands on your door mat.....with a radar detector too!!!

There are some types of speedtrap which are located down the road, you drive past it, trigger it, plod further up the road takes your number - hey presto.

Its very common on Dual Carriageways, as plod sits in a layby a few hundred mtrs up the road, so you dont see him until you've bee done.

I may well be rubbing it in....

but, if I were caught speeding after I had been "careful" enough to take precautions such as a radar detector, I'd expect to be shot down in flames.

I think its crazy, plain and simple.

How can you be nicked by a copper writing your reg number down?? That relies on his eye sight and the quality of his hand writing! Surely more proof is required, such as 2 coppers, a photo, etc?!?

Why wasn't I pulled over if I was speeding?

I was done by a lazer gun 2 years ago & the copper pulled me over & showed me the proof their and then!

I dont even drive fast..........cant afford the tyres & low mpg!

I think the poster above meant that the guy with the radar/laser etc. was behind you. i.e. you didn't see him. What the plod you saw was doing is irrelevant, the other one you didnae see is the one you wanna worry about (if there was someone of course!)

I think all you can do is hope (and stop ignoring the detector! )

they'll be struggling to produce any evidence if there's no photo. think you'll be ok. as has been said, you'll know within 14 days. if a NIP comes, fight them, ask to see ALL the evidence against you. cause the b@stards as much hassle as possible.

The veridict around the office (a few of us passed the speed trap) is that it was a single copper with a hand held device, my Bell 550 indicated a K band device. The web says that if u r caught speeding by such a device, then u get pulled over, so hopefully i'm in the clear!

Must pay more attention.......!
