thx .. hope its not a big hassle.. just spoke to them and they said they cant get a bloke out till tomorrow afternoon , and that "Maybe we can send the DVD and Amp away for cleaning" cheeky gits..
I did get the best policy on offer at the time so hopefully it will all get replaced
could have been worse i suppose, if i was painting outside and dropped the paint can on the scoob

You might find if the stuff covered in paint still works they could insist on getting it professionally cleaned for you. Anything that doesnt function will be replaced - ensure they dont just go out and replace it model for model - as it was top notch at the time of purchase they should be replacing it with todays top notch stuff.
Edited to say I dont think they will give you cash 0 they might ask you what you consider to be todays equivalent model and they will purchase it on your behalf as they tend to have cracking procurement deals which means something in the shops for £800 they can buy for £400 or less!

Just made a real mess at home.. Painting the living room cieling and fell of the ladders...
smashed my 42" LCD tv .. completely repainted my 5.1 amp , ps2 ,DVD , hi-fi & sky box and the unit it all fits on.. and the carpet is also fooked
I've never made a contents claim before, the insurance company say I'm covered but they're sending out a loss adjuster ...
Do they think I'm lying or something ????
What if this adjuster guy thinks it wasnt an accident ???
probly a bit paranoid, but i couldnt really afford to be replacing all this stuff at once.
Also how long does it usually take to get something like this sorted.. I've cleaned up most of the paint but seems I'm fighting a loseing battle

had a loss adjuster visit twice.
1st time i lost my watch in a house move.....in theory i could have completly made it up (i hadnt though...i really did lose it) so he just asked about the watch and how it may have gone missing and that was it....£1000 2 weeks later to get a new one.
2nd time- last month, shower leaked into the walls and we now have 5 blokes in the bathroom ripping it out and putting a new one in. This time i just left it to my wife, bloke was fine.
If you are telling the truth then its all cool, just tell him what happened....nothing to get worked up about.

reminds me of the time I whacked my head on the underside of a low shelf and sent a pot plant (that I'd just watered) flying onto a laptop and monitor which then went a rather strange colour before fizzing off! As long as you have accidental cover, you should be ok. Can't remember if I had to send anything back but we got a cheque for the laptop and a new monitor (laptop was out-dated but still fully functioning prior to the watering).
Get a decorator next time though

All should be well if you are getting them to replace damaged items rather than trying to get the cash equivalent.

Thats all i'm after Tony..
The only problem i can see happening is with the TV & DVD Player
When i bought the DVD about 4 or so years ago because it was quite new then i bought the best i could afford , a really good sony costing £500.. but i bet they wont pay that for one now. Same with the TV, i paid about £2500 for it but you can get the equivelent now for about £1500..
do you think they'll pay for the top of the range stuff now or just get me a cheap dvd & tv thats the same size and does the same stuff ??

you will get "market value" type thing.
what you need to do is get all the technical info on your stuff and play them off.
is the policy old for new if so i reckon you should have them.
basically hit them with all the technical stuff on the electronics. Usually they will say go and look for stuff and come back to us.

not really bothered about having any cash out of it, I'd be happy just getting the stuff replaced.. The tv is def dead cos the LCD screen is knackered.. not sure abot the amp, hi etc. If they want to try and see if they work, let THEM plug then in.. I'm not gonna risk blowing them up. The amp and hi-fi both have vents on the top which i think paint got in

Original purchase receipts will help to prove that your gear was top-of-the-range and any replacements should be their current equivalent or better. You don't have to accept a lower spec product if you have a new for old policy e.g. replacing a Nicam VCR with a mono one.
Cheers
