All

A friend of mine has a Porsche 996 Carrera for the day from Porsche while his Boxster is in for a service.
As he is under 30 the dealer wont insure him on their policy & his current insurer has a £40k car value limit on its policies (the 911 is worth circa £70k)

Does anyone know a good insurer that will ensure him just for the day at competitive rates ?

All help appreciated

Ro.

why did the dealer give him such an expensive car as a courtesy car? I take it the dealer won't let him use garage cover then? Makes a change from us lot getting a Justy / Micra though.

He is looking to buy a 911 so the garage offered to let him have one for the day.
he is under 30 & they will insure him......with a £10k excess !! so its not an option !

Try getting a cover note from Direct Line. A lot of insurers won't do "expensive" cars, Direct line do, and they were the cheapest by far on a 996.

No joy with Direct Line.
Its the single day thing thats the problem.

Any more suggestions ? Porsche garage wont budge - crazy seeing as if it was a test-drive he would be fully covered but because he is taking it for the day its a problem for them.

Get instant cover then cancel it the following day!

That is a possibility! Start a year's policy, cancel within two weeks and you may get all your money refunded.

I'd not even consider using the cancelling the policy idea.

My girlfriend works a section of Norwich Union and if you cancel a policy within 21 days, you forfeit 35% of the policy

Not with Liverpool Victoria you dont.

2 week money back guarantee or something.

I did it but not for the reason above. I got a better quote afterwards.

Wink

Then I stand corrected However some companies (other than NU) do also do this so be careful.

Just go to LV
