S-o-T council want a good f*cking!
#1
All around s-o-t at the moment the council are repairing the roads by putting a thin layer of tar down followed by a thick layer of loose stones, never seen anything so f*cking stupid in all my life!
Its normally two or three days before they sweep the loose stones away and then two weeks later you can see tyre tracks were the stones have been worn away. They did my fathers estate about two months ago and you still hear the loose stones hitting your car when you drive on it.
Also what about the safety issue, if someone has to do a emergancy stop on loose stones, well you aint gonna stop are you?
Sorry about the rant but this sort of lazy cheap-skate attitude really p*sses me off

They did this in the socialist republic of Rotherham around my area about 18 months ago, utter utter f*ck up.
Some spotty t*sser at the council suddenly decides to spend a bit of cash and ruin a perfectly good road, that's before you start on the damage to cars, thank god I had the VW Bora then !!!!!!!!

So it's not just round stoke their doing it then?
The only thing the council in stoke seem to be able to do right is fill their bl**dy expense forms in!
Still fuming about it two hours after getting home from work.

Yep our local council do this trick as well
Last week they had done the main road right in the middle of the heatwave stone chippings everywhere our local Burberry crew thought it was a great laugh to overtake everyone who was creeping through at 10 mph fecking stones flying everywhere

This nearly caused me to bend the Subaru last year !
4 weeks after they had resurfaced the road in the afore mentioned manner, the signs had gone and the chips had bedded in ok. I overtook a cyclist 25mph as a oncoming car came round the next corner I past the cyclist and swerved in (nothing major). Unbenown to me they had put down more loose Gravel !!!!!! compeatly sideways neraly took out the cyclist and a wall !!!!!!
the gravel was only in patchs and not over the full resurfaced stretch
Well chuffed !

Where I used to live in Brighton and Hove they did the same ****. Made me spitting mad and covered my car with bits of tar and stones. Also the road surface now made far more noise so very disturbing at night and in the morning.

Same happens in Norfolk - in fact that's the ONLY kind of resurfacing we get round here. Just done it on perfectly good 50-yard stretch of road that just happens to be on my way to work.
I suspect that there is, however, a specific reason for it, which is target setting. By throwing a bit of sticky stuff and cheap gravel down all over the place, the Council can say "well, our target was to resurface 400 miles of road this year but we're so great we've done 600". And the roads boss gets a nice bonus in his pocket, sorry, I mean "performance related pay".
Common sense would obviously dictate that fewer miles were covered but done properly. Sadly, the shower of incompetent arsewipes who are currently masquerading as a government are foisting target-setting on everyone, everywhere so we can expect more of this kind of nonsense until they get voted out.

Oatcake,
Stoke-On-Trent must have the poorest maintained roads in the UK, they are fecking shocking!!
Stoke is my home town, and I have just got back from visiting my family. My poor Type-R doesn't know hit it. Still I managed to stock up on oatcakes (no pun intended).
Craig.

Same down this way...gone are the days of proper resurfacing,it's down to cost cutting...Fu**in cheapskates.
Put in a claim for your 'broken windscreen/head lights'since the gravel was put down and wait for their reply!!!..threaten them with the small claim courts..a letter cost nowt apart from a a stamp.
Gotta be worth a try.

Several roads locally suffered in the recent exceptional heat resulting in tar melt. Several plonkers managed to find this summer version of black ice .... excuses. What's "seat of the pants" mean Dad? Council soon out with lots of grit to cover those melted tar patches ..... got complaints .... had they done nothing they'd still got complaints....... DOH!
Hey, drive to suit the conditions .... and go easy until you know it's OK to press on as usual.

They did this around oxford a few weeks back
It's easy enough to drop back from the car in front, but there's always an artic' coming the other way that sprays you good and proper...
