mods - its not 'really computer related' - honest - Its about cars
I want to be able to run a laptop in a car from a 12v supply. Laptop DC input is 19V 4.7A I have tried using a 12v - 240 volt inverter (eventually blew up), but this strikes me as a touch inefficient, converting 12 V to 240V back to 19V.
Can anyone tell me if I can buy an 12v adapter that will give me appropriate output to plug into the lappy?

Bit of an odd voltage, so I think you'll struggle to get one off the shelf.
Have you had a rummage around www.rs.co.uk and www.maplin.co.uk?

19volts seems abit high for a laptop!
I have an incar adapter for my laptop which plugs into the ciggy lighter, are you sure the laptop manufacturer does not make one already.
