My tax is up for renewal at the end of this month. My cars first MOT is due 7th Sept. On my tax reminder it says a valid MOT test certificate is needed after 7th sept 2003. So am I right to assume that I can get this years tax sorted without the need for an MOT certificate, as long as I do it before 7th sept?

Simon.

Cool

As far as Im aware,as long as a car is under 3 years old/or has a valid MOT,you can get the tax sorted, even if there is only a couple of days innit

Yes, you can tax your car before 7th September WITHOUT a new MOT.

In fact, you could tax your car on Friday 29th as this is two working days before the end of August

As long as 'if' you need an MOT it's current on the day of being taxed, then you can do it, if the car wasn't registered until the 7th, then you could in theory get it taxed on the 6th without the need for an mot!
