Hi All,

I was thinking of importing a radar detector from america and was wandering if anyone has done this already and whether or not there are any issues with it working in England.

Can anyone advise me?.

if i remember rightly, some of the bands aren't covered over here if you buy one of the cheaper ones, but if you get a worldwide version (bell do one) you should be ok

I bought a Valentine One back from Florida with me, but sold it as I didn't feel it was working properly. The detector is slighted so I don't know if it was designed for the other side of the road. I drove twice round a white camera van which was in use, but not even a blip. They are alot cheaper in the states, but beware.

Wouldn't touch a US one with a barge pole.

Stick to the UK ones like Snooper or Bel / Valentine 1 UK versions (pricey)

Or there's a new kid on the block - Speed Cheetah which promises to give earlier warnings than more expensive models.

Unfortunately there isn't exactly a UK version of the Valentine one. These are all American imports. There is an extra band that can be turned on specifically for the UK market, but I still think the detector angle is a problem for the UK.

Yes the version with the extra band was the UK one I meant. No RHD one at all.
