Selling at auction
#1
I'm thinking of selling my Alfa 156 at auction as I don't have time to sell it privately. How much commission do the auction houses charge?
P.S. Alternatively, if anyone's after a fully-loaded silver Dec99 Alfa 156 39k miles w/ FSH - please let me know!

Well I phone British Car auctions today, and here's what I found out.
There are two flat charges, a £32 entry fee and a £6 service fee. These aren't refundable, even if the car doesn't make reserve.
I was staggered by the commission they charge - 7.5% !!

Plus the VAT as well!? I personally think Blackbush is a waste of time and they, as in BCA are the only winners. Commission on a sale and purchase. A friend put a little '97/R Fiesta diesel in there about 2 weeks ago, only for the auctioneer to call him and tell him his price was very unrealistic and it should expect it to make approx £400-600. It sold in the TVAT for £2150!!!
An advert in the Auto Trader is about the same price and more effective IMO.
I put a Saab in there last year and although it never sold the first time, they entered it again (without my consent) then tried to hit me with additional fees. Needless to say I refused to pay it. I also noticed that 3/4 of a tank of fuel had been used and an extra 25 miles clocked up...suddenly no-one knew nothing
