Nokia 6510 help please !!!!

I have 2 Nokia 6510s & they seem to have 2 different lots of software installed ! Is it possible to upgrade the software on one of them ?
Also I want to download the text messages on one of them to my pc to keep as there is important info in some of the texts
Can this be done & can someone please advise what leads etc i need
cheaper the better please !

You need PC Suite to download the stuff from the phone.
If the phone has IR, just enable the IR, and use that to comunicate with the laptop.
