Why not add 15mb to the premium membership thingy. that way they get more people doing that too

 

The majority of ISPs offer free space and you can use XP (picture tasks)to publish pics to the web.

If you're willing to pay £25, you could probably do a lot worse than paying £12.50 over at corsasport.co.uk - 10mb of hosting, link elsewhere if you like, proper URL for each pic, email alias, discount bits (of limited use admittedly).

 

personal ISP hosting (as said above) 50MB free for me.

Just keep track of what you upload or it kinda gets outta hand. <speaking from experience>

How does everyone sign on? Are there ISP's that don't provide some web space? You can get 30meg storage from Freeserve for the price of the phone call to upload your pictures. Read the small print of any hosting service, you may end up giving up the rights to the image.

 

The great thing about these uploaders is that they resize the images. I suspect that a large number of users won't know how to do this and may end up with their 1600x1200 1.1mb, straight from the camera, files being uploaded to their personal webspace.
If you are able to resize your image to 72 dpi and 640x480 at the most then these free ISPs are great. The files would be roughly 40-100k but could still be made smaller.
Some of them also have bandwidth restrictions so for every picture you don't resize the quicker your monthly allowance will be eaten. With the number of viewings you would get from Scoobynet your picture could be visible for a day or so ;-)

So does anyone have any nice code that resizes the images?

It's not the space thats the problems it the amount of extra traffic it would generate.

What with all the problems with these free hosting companies crashing all the time...

What price would it cost?? Is it possible and how much would we be prepared to pay to have a simple and easy to use Pic hosting service???

I for one would pay £25.00 per year.

Personnally from my internet design experience I thin it could be very costly for Scoobynet as images are far greater then text. imagine the amount of bandwidth that would be needed for a couple of 100kb photos being looked at 10000's of times.

Anyway for those of you which want a god way to host your own pictures go to http://www.angelfire.com And sign up for a free account. You get 20mbs of webspace and 1GB of bandwidth.

also if people want a easy to use image converter/resizer go to here and downlaod the programme http://www.imageresizer.com/download.php For forums it is best to resize the picture between 200-400 pixels.
