Don't count on it.

This from ITN web site.

Today could be the hottest day in history with a strong possibility that the temperature could peak above the British record of 37.1C.

Forecasters said the chances of a new all-time high to beat the record set in Cheltenham in August 1990 were "better than 50-50".

Weatherman Michael Dukes said: "It could be the hottest day in history. I think we have every chance of breaking the record."

It feels like today could be VERY hot here in Surrey. I wouldn't be surprised if today was a record breaker.

I'd love a downpour !

Went out and bought one of those little plastic spray thingamy's the other day to help keep the flames down on the BBQ when grilling....the sun has melted the nozzle so it's welded onto the bottle !!!

About two hours of rain so far today here - made working in the garden much nicer. Plenty of thunder and one flash of lightning.

Some clearer skies on the horizon but it's very nice now

Well having just toured the UK

It was torrential rain this morning, when I set off, and it sort of rained all the way down the M6 and on the M1 till I got near Northamptonshire, (how was Santa Pod today btw?)

Then I stopped for fuel at Newport Pagnell, and it was scorching, and its been like that all the way down to the M25, across to the M4 and up the M5 till I got back around Staffordshire where it was overcast

Warrington it had just started raining, but back home it is incredibly humid, but overcast

I so need A I R C O N !!!!!!

8 hours in the car in this heat is far too much to bear

Well up here in Teesside it really was almost like a mini monsoon for about 30 minutes this morning - drains have overflowed, trees uprooted - spent all day at parents who were flooded!!!

Red face

It's been 40 degrees and a bit more for over 3 weeks here in France with a couple weeks more sun forecast- I am praying for rain. It will put paid to my newly developed beach bum lifestyle but at least the crops won't look so bad.

I've forgotten what rain looks like.
