BT Openworld - OK 'till you have a problem then God help you!
Paul,
I'd happily recommend Plusnet to you as I have broadband with them, as do a few of my friends. Not had any problems with them personally, but a friend had trouble connecting and they traced the problem back to a poor BT install which they bullied BT into fixing and gave a month's free internet use for the inconvenience. I would expect their dial-up service to be as good and it looks like they have 4 tiers so you can get a package to suit you.

Mods, please leave here for a bit in case you feel the need to move to computer related.
Been with BT Openworld for a 18 months or so, Openworld Anytime, no broadband avaliable yet.
Changed Banks, set up DD which has failed, set up wrong, possibly their fault but not the problem. In itseklf, just pay by card and sort the DD for next time. Yeah, Right!!!
Saturday
Found out Saturday tha my service was suspended, called to sort, the computer system was down, said for me to call back that day, did, guess what the computer system was down.
Sunday
Same!
Monday
I have tried Monday and today and guess what, the computer system is down!!
I had been able to retieve and send email via a mates connection but they have now barred my email account!!!
The call centre op apologised for this but cannot do a thing as the system is down.
Asked for BT to call me back when it is sorted and was told this could be a few days before they call me.
No call back yet!!!
Tuesday
Still no response, called @ 08:15hrs, had to go through the same rigmarol and be put on hold for 5 mins just to be told the department is down again.
I have been without email since Saturday, i work from home and email is vital to me.
BT do not care, i cannot get through to a manager, i have been through an Indian call centre of theirs as well as a different approach to see if this would work - they just wanted to upgrade me to Broadband. It is not avaliable in my area anyway FFS!
OK - This is rubbish customer service and i do not have to put up with it.
Any reccommendations on providers.
BTOW is £ 15.99 per month for upto 150 hours.
Many thanks
Paul

I know people say AOL is ****e - but I had 3 years on AOL with no probs whatsoever - 2 accounts on 2 pc's. Unlimited time for £15.99 per month, downside of it is - that it's a bastid to get rid of on your pc if you want to uninstal. When I went over to broadband - I didn't use AOL because they didn't support networking.
