Question

Relation has a leak where new (plastic) plumbing from kitchen sink goes into original cast iron pipework (circa 1950).

Best material to seal it?

I was gonna putty rond it, but do I need some sort of wadding too?

Muchos Gracias in advance

Thanks Jay ~ got some of this & will try soon.

EDIT: Scooby ~ ptfe tape won't span the gap - cast pipe is quite a bit bigger in diameter. thanks though

Sylglas is a pack of two different kinds of putty. Mix equal sized amounts together and it sets, even completely underwater, to make a watertight seal. Sold for about £3 in local DIY stores and even in the big Asda supermarkets in the DIY aisle.
