Lots of people I speak to are well and truly sick of the state of this country (me included) and many seem to be on the brink of moving abroad. Do you know anyone that has done it? Are you thinking of going? If yes, is it just a dream or are you serious?

I suppose it's easier for some than others. France seems like a nice place - we go to Provence most years. Lots of space, great food and wine at reasonable prices, great weather, no hassles in the main, you can eat out all the time, beautiful and largely empty countryside...
Some things about it really appeal to me but OTOH
part of me will always love london. nothing like a night in a proper london boozer for a bit of banter, pool, a proper larf
I would have to give up my business
what the hell would we do in france to earn a living?
do I want my kid to be a bleedin frog?
I would miss having friends and family close by
so it loks like i'll be staying in the stinkhole for the forseeable.

Ireland beckons one day - sooner rather than later tbh if I have anything to do with it
I have a few (insert the word "wife" here) hurdles to cross but I've also found that Suffolk/Norfolk is a lot more peaceful/relaxed than some of the rest of the country, so I believe its still possible to get some peace & quiet in the UK. Do it right & its quite possible to have a good lifestyle & not expensive to boot.
However, Ireland certainly beckons & with a views like those below, then wtf am I still here for?
Can't come soon enough IMO

Yup, I've moved country. Mainly as the company was relocating me to Canada. Would I have done it on my own? probably not, so it's not a true move type thing, but well, it is, kind of! lol

Puff - is that Donegal?
The grass is always greener etc. and I think most folks migrate back to where they came from eventually, but you can at least move around a bit before that happens.

Hopefully NZ will be a back door to OZ as that is where I wish to end up. still think I'm dreaming though.
- front door to Oz don't u mean?
The '77 Winter of discontent, the arrival of Maggie 'the handbag' Thatcher and USSR threatening an invasion into Poland (instant resolution to Gdansk shipyard strikes, etc) did it for me.
So, what was that about things going downhill?

I'm moving INTO the UK. OK only from Jersey Too small over here, 100,000 people and 100,000 cars in an island only 9 miles by 5 miles. Moving to North Devon to get lots of space and peace.
Originally considered Oz but just turned 40 and that makes it much harder to get the required points to get in.

Fuz - Where in Canada? Toronto perhaps? if so, let me know mate, cos that's where I am.
On a 1 year visa at the moment, but will be extended, will be there for at least 3 years, then I will probably become a resident.
