Yeah when we paid for our house a week before we moved in they had over 300k in their bank account for a week, before they transferred it.
After they completely messed up the bill (overcharged), I asked for the interest to be taken into account when they recalculated and they laughed.
robbin b*&tards indeed.

I work for a firm of solicitors (looking after the IT) and one of the partners has the cheek to put on his e-mail out of office reply "....I am in the office Monday to Friday between 11am -11.30am and then 4pm-4.30pm....."
He is charged out at over £200 an hour!

Back in the dark days when I did IT support, I was sent in as part of a team to give a quote to a major firm of solicitors in the city. We quoted on a system we knew wouldn't deliver what they wanted and made sure that fact was hidden away in the documentation we supplied. Of course they didn't read it properly and ended up having to buy another additional system from us at an enhanced cost. We also ripped them off with the support contract. IT geeks 1, law types 0.
It's the only time I'm ever going to come out on top of these leeches so it gives me a warm feeling every time I remember it.

Yup, the rest is supposedly spent 'marketing', meaning his assistant, a jumped up secretary is left doing all his client work and getting paid next to nothing for doing it.
The amount of excuses he has given for not being at work is phenomenal!
Nacro, my small reward, or personal victory is the IT kit that is forced into early redundancy ;-)

If you want the money, offer the solicitor the TT fee of £20 or so, and it should be in your account by this afternoon.
I had a house sale complete at 9.15 this morning, proceeds already come from my solicitor and landed in my account for the weekend
I doubt very much your purchasers solicitor would have sent a cheque to your solicitor, either.
Sorry mate, but your solicitor is being a numpty.

I can top that for being miles out of the expected price range. We sold a company and our legal fees were just short of £40k. At the start the estimate we were given was £25-£30k. However, the buyers were told their fees would be £6,500 ish. We then thought we were being seriously ripped off but at the end their bill came to a WHOPPING £58k!!!!!!!!!!

First time i have had to use a solicitor for personal reasons, so i a a bit naive (sp) in this area. Can't understand why they can't write me a cheque for the balance less their fee. not as if they are a piddly wee law firm there are about 10 partners on the letterhead ffs
cheers
