*****, i sometimes play a little game whereby i bid on items i don't want to buy (gone past my threshold), but i just want to drive the price up (see how far i can go without winning), sometimes i bid in the last 1-2 mins for real excitment. done this about a dozen times, but i just (LOST!) i.e. won an auction for a 5.6" TFT in-car TV...argrhgrhrgrhr!
so, anyone want to buy it???
steven - DOH!!!
edit to say - if this wasn't true it would have made nice muppet material

You are a very very sad person and its people like you who give Scoobynet a bad name, by driving up e bay prices you are screwing it up for the seller who may lose a genuine bid because of you
I accept you are unemployed but why dont you go out and tidy up some old persons garden this would at least be productive!!!!

LOL
My only complaint is that you obviously didn't "bid up" the model truck I just sold, it went for £30 less than I hoped I still made money on it though

what's wrong with you lot?
sounds like good fun to me - the seller benefits as the price is driven up - if other bidders choose to pay higher, that's there choice.
there's nothin illegal or immoral about it - it's what happens at auctions all the time. and occasionally the 'bogus' bidder gets stung - but he knew that going in.
good on ya, mate - nothing wrong with bidding up when someone's really keen to beat you to something

Missus just bid succesfully on Monday for a 5 star hotel for two all in; got there today and it is a 5 star hotel for 7 days with beach towels and gowns supplied, the hotel is fantastic.
Paid £500 for two people, (missus & daughter) and she didn't even have time to make me 7 days of meals or frozen sandwiches......

Steve, i'm confused. What exactly do you gain from this, except the chance of owning stuff you don't really want? Is it *that* much of an adrenalin rush?

Hello
I don't think it's a problem either. The seller gets a higher price for their goods, and the other bidders don't have to continue to bid if they don't want to.
I'm still relying on you for the modem ..... !!
Steve.

It's not a problem for anyone other than the sad individual whose life is so empty they feel the need to engage in pointless risk-taking on an auction site...why not just go and try running back and forth accross the M1? See how many times you can do it in 5 minutes at 6am, then again at 7am etc - that'd give you a real thrill!

Was talking to a friend at the weekend and he mentioned how in his youth he used to run over cars..ie take a running jump, go over the bonnet up the screen across the roof and off the boot. I had been saying how I couldn't understand mindless vandalism..what was the rush? He said it was the excitement, the risk that the windscreen would shatter and youd fall over.
As said above, different strikes for different folks..as long as you are only hurting yourself (and you ain't spending my taxes on 'losing' the auction (ie the dole money) then go ahead and 'enjoy' yourself.

as i said in the post, if i want something and the bidding goes to high (over my threshold for that item) sometimes i'll just bid again to **** the other person off and see how far it goes!
this isn't something i sit and do all day
