Advice needed - was it a Speed Camera? - A303 on thursday

Evening all,
I'm normally registered as S_T but can't get it to work hence this name.
I passed what I think might be a camera on Thursday night about 8pm, what I saw was in a layby around the Andover area on the westbound A303 - it looked like a large CCTV type security camera on a galvanised metal pole attached to a trailer pointing at traffic? about 5ft high? I couldn't get a proper look as the numpty in front anchored on and I was too busy trying to avoid him.
Would this be a camera? or is it something completely different? -I was doing about 80-85 when I passed it. Is it the nervous two week wait for me?
